This all started by making a few items for friends and then I thought I would sell a few things to make some extra cash. Now this has taken on a life of it's own and I love it!
I am second generation leather worker. I have honed my craft over trial, error, and time. I have made many pieces for my friends who all enjoy my skills. I have made everything from pouches, belts, mug straps, leather skirts, leather halter tops, and many other things over the years. My partner, shipper, assembler, web designer, photo editor, and handyman Randy, also helps me assemble items and helps me make my products top notch!
Every challenge is a new adventure and selling my products is the biggest adventure of them all.
My parents own Lutz's Leather, where I have worked for over 10 years, www.lutzsleather.com
. We make our own custom saddle bags and other leather accessories. I owe my talents to my incredibly talented father, who started out in the basement of our house making leather belts. He then moved to a slightly bigger shop in down town Ellwood City. After about 10 years of building the business up, we moved to our current location about 3 miles out of Ellwood City, where I help run the business, with my mother on the front end, who also is our accomplished seamstress, and has taught me a trick or two herself. Then I help in the back making products to sell to our customers. Leather is my life and I enjoy every step of the creative process.
As well as being an accomplished leather worker, I have been machine sewing my own Reenactment clothing for about ten years. I went to my first SCA event about ten years ago and have been inspired by Middle Ages ever since.
I enjoy the craft so much that I am ready to share my talent with others. I hope my pieces bring as much joy to others, as they bring to me when I make them.
